The Temptations

Formed from two rival Detroit vocal groups in 1961, The Temptations became Motown's most enduring harmony act, their synchronized steps and five-part blend carrying 'My Girl' to the top of the charts. Under producer Norman Whitfield they later plunged into the churning, orchestral psychedelic soul of 'Papa Was a Rollin' Stone,' proving the group could evolve as fast as the genre itself. Decades and lineup changes later, the Temptations still tour behind that legacy.
