Schoolly D

Jesse Weaver Jr. self-released "P.S.K. What Does It Mean?" in Philadelphia in 1985, a stark, menacing record about his Park Side Killers crew that's widely regarded as one of gangsta rap's founding texts. His icy, deadpan delivery over a sparse drum-machine beat became a direct template for the West Coast gangsta rap that broke through a few years later.
