Cybotron

Cybotron, the Detroit duo of Juan Atkins and Rik Davis, fused Kraftwerk-style electronic minimalism with funk and early hip-hop rhythm on tracks like 1983's 'Clear,' laying the groundwork for what would become Detroit techno. Atkins would go on to record as Model 500 and is widely credited as one of techno's founding architects. Cybotron's stark, machine-funk sound remains a foundational reference point for electronic dance music.
