Tunde Nightingale

Earnest Olatunde Thomas, performing as Tunde Nightingale, was an early juju guitarist and bandleader in Lagos and Ibadan whose "So Wàmbè" style favored loose, praise-singing party music over formal dance-hall sets. Active from the mid-1940s until his death in 1981, he's cited as a direct stylistic touchstone for later juju stars including King Sunny Adé.
