MC Marcinho

Márcio André Nepomuceno Garcia broke through in 1994 with 'Rap do Solitário' and spent the years that followed as funk carioca's reigning romantic voice, credited with pioneering funk melody, a softer, love-song-driven alternative to the genre's more explicit or violence-themed strains. Nicknamed the 'Prince of Funk,' he remained a foundational reference point for funk carioca vocalists until his death in 2023.
