Hawkwind
Formed in London in 1969, Hawkwind built a sprawling, hypnotic space-rock sound out of droning riffs, synthesizers, and science-fiction imagery, becoming a defining act of the UK underground festival circuit. Their revolving lineup at various points included a young Lemmy Kilmister on bass, whose time in the band directly preceded the formation of Motörhead.
