General Echo
Earl Anthony Robinson, who performed as General Echo, was a leading Jamaican dancehall deejay of the late 1970s known for pioneering the explicit, sexually frank 'slackness' style of toasting. His 1979 hit 'Arleen,' set to the Stalag riddim, topped the Jamaican charts before his career was cut short by his death in 1980.
