G.K. Venkatesh
G.K. Venkatesh (1927–1993) was a leading composer for Kannada cinema from the 1960s through the 1980s, known for bringing Western-style background scoring into South Indian film and for a long, prolific partnership with the actor Dr. Rajkumar. He is remembered as much for his mentorship as his music: the young Ilaiyaraaja worked as his assistant on some two hundred films, absorbing orchestration and arrangement at his side.
