Fateh Ali Khan
Fateh Ali Khan was a Pakistani qawwal and musicologist who, with his brother Mubarak Ali Khan, led one of the most respected qawwali parties of mid-twentieth-century Punjab, carrying a family tradition said to stretch back roughly six hundred years. Though he initially discouraged his son Nusrat from a life in music, he became the boy's first teacher, and his command of raga and devotional repertoire formed the foundation of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's art.
