El Coyote y su Banda Tierra Santa
José Ángel Ledesma Quintero grew up in Coyotitán, Sinaloa dreaming of a career in professional baseball before music took over; by his late teens and twenties he was singing lead for a run of Sinaloan bandas — La Costeña, La Original Banda El Limón, Los Recoditos — before forming his own outfit, Banda Tierra Santa, in December 1997. His reedy, high nasal tenor and unabashedly heartsick lyrics, equal parts wounded pride and wit, made him one of banda romántica's defining solo voices of the 2000s.
