DJ Koze
Stefan Kozalla, a producer and DJ from Flensburg, Germany who records as DJ Koze, cut his teeth as a rapper and DJ in the Hamburg hip-hop group Fischmob in the early 1990s before moving into house and eclectic electronic production, releasing his solo debut 'Kosi Comes Around' in 2005. He co-founded Pampa Records in 2009 and built a reputation for warm, mischievous, sample-warped house on albums like 'Amygdala' (2013) and 'Knock Knock' (2018), the latter powered by the widely loved single 'Pick Up.'
DJ Koze has named Matthew Herbert as an artist he admires specifically for reinventing his own process ('he used to record with orchestras and bands, but he now makes completely different music with only an 808 and a sampler'), and put that admiration into practice with his own remix of Herbert's 'It's Only' on his Pampa label.
