DJ Battery Brain
DJ Battery Brain was a Miami bass-era producer whose 1988 track '808 Volt Mix' became one of the most heavily reused rhythm beds in the genre's short history. When the record reached Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s, its ringing 808 percussion was adopted so widely by local funk producers that it acquired its own Brazilian nickname, 'Melô da Latinha,' helping lay rhythmic groundwork that funk carioca built on for years.
