Roger David, born 1979 in Karachi to a Punjabi Christian family, was raised in Peshawar before moving to Oakland, California at age 13, where he fell in with West Oakland hip-hop producer Sha One. As Bohemia he became the first to marry full Punjabi-language verses to hip-hop production on a major label — 2006's Pesa Nasha Pyar, featuring Snoop Dogg, is credited as the first full-length Punjabi rap album released by a major label — earning him the informal title "Godfather of Desi Hip-Hop" and opening the commercial lane later Punjabi rap stars would follow into the Bollywood mainstream.
