Amir Khusrau
Amir Khusrau (1253–1325) was an Indo-Persian poet, scholar and musician at the courts of the Delhi Sultanate and the devoted disciple of the Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya. Widely honored as the father of qawwali, he is traditionally credited with fusing Persian, Arabic, Turkic and Indian musical elements into the devotional form and with founding the Delhi gharana; compositions attributed to him, such as 'Chaap Tilak,' are still sung at shrines seven centuries later.
