Tropical Jazz
A second defunct Dakar dance orchestra of the same pre-independence nightclub scene, Tropical Jazz supplied singer Amara Touré and saxophonist Mady Konaté to Ibra Kassé's newly assembled Star Band when it folded around 1959. Touré went on to build a celebrated recording career of his own in the 1970s, but no document of Tropical Jazz's own repertoire survives independently.
