Tomás Pavón
Francisco Tomás Pavón Cruz, brother of La Niña de los Peines, was regarded by aficionados as one of the purest and most uncompromising cantaores of his generation, favoring austere, lesser-commercial forms like the toná, martinete, and debla over crowd-pleasing styles. He recorded only a handful of sessions — most notably in 1927, backed by guitarist Niño Ricardo — and largely avoided professional company work, which meant true recognition of his artistry came mostly after his death in 1952.
