Surinder Shinda

Born in 1953, Surinder Shinda became a defining voice of 1980s Punjabi folk with hits like 'Jatt Jeona Morh' and 'Putt Jattan De' across a catalogue of nearly 165 albums, earning a reputation as a godfather of the Music-on-Console (MOC) era. He personally taught music to a young Amar Singh Chamkila, who approached him on a bicycle in 1979 asking to be his student, and remained a defining mentor figure in Punjabi music until his death in 2023.
