Rites of Spring
Rites of Spring formed in Washington, D.C. in 1984 on Dischord Records, pairing hardcore's speed and volume with confessional, emotionally raw lyrics — a shift often cited as a founding moment of 'emocore.' Their brief, incandescent run produced a single album before members Guy Picciotto and Brendan Canty went on to form Fugazi. The band had effectively ended by 1986.
