Riley Puckett
Riley Puckett was a blind Georgia guitarist and singer whose runs with Gid Tanner's Skillet Lickers helped define what a rhythm guitar could do in old-time string band music, laying groundwork that bluegrass pickers would later build on directly. He recorded over two hundred sides between the 1920s and early 1940s, ranging from raucous fiddle-tune backing to his own solo and yodeling sides. He died in 1946, one of commercial country music's first genuine guitar stars.
