Ramón Montoya
Ramón Montoya was a Madrid-born Romani guitarist widely credited as the founder of flamenco guitar's concert-solo tradition, the first player to systematically treat the guitar as an instrument capable of standing alone rather than only accompanying singers and dancers. His technical and harmonic innovations — including the creation of the rondeña and farruca as guitar showpieces — shaped essentially every major flamenco guitarist of the 20th century, from Niño Ricardo and Sabicas to Mario Escudero.
