Rafael Zequeira
Rafael Zequeira was already a working Havana trovador when he teamed up with the younger María Teresa Vera in 1914, and together they became the first Cuban vocal duo to build a substantial commercial recording career — nearly 200 sides for Victor between 1914 and his death in 1924. Almost none of that catalog survives intact today, but the guitar-and-two-voice trova format the pair popularized outlived the recordings themselves.
