Kshetrayya
Kshetrayya, born Varadayya, was a 17th-century Telugu poet from the village of Movva who perfected the padam, a slow, richly ornamented song form combining devotional and erotic (sringara) themes addressed to Krishna under his pen name Muvvagopala. Closely associated with the devadasi dance and music tradition, his surviving padams remain central to Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi repertoire as well as Carnatic vocal recitals.
