Jungle Brothers
Mike Gee and Afrika Baby Bam, later joined by DJ Sammy B, formed the Jungle Brothers in 1987 and became one of the founding acts of New York's Native Tongues collective. Straight Out the Jungle (1988) and its single 'I'll House You' made them among the first hip-hop artists to fuse rap directly with house music, treating genre boundaries as an invitation rather than a wall. Their loose, communal, Afrocentric ethos shaped the alternative hip-hop scene that De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest would soon join.
