Emiliano Zuleta

Emiliano Zuleta Baquero, known as 'El Viejo Mile,' was a foundational Colombian vallenato accordionist, singer, and composer whose long career helped define the genre's classic sound. His best-known song, 'La Gota Fria,' grew out of a famous piqueria — a dueling-verse musical confrontation — with fellow accordionist Lorenzo Morales, and it later became a global hit in Carlos Vives's 1993 recording. He was the patriarch of a musical dynasty that remained central to vallenato for generations.
