Early B
Earlando Arrington Neil performed as Early B, deejaying for Kingston's Soul Imperial sound system as a teenager before becoming, alongside his young protégé Super Cat, one of the Killamanjaro sound system's most feared talents in the early 1980s. His nickname "The Doctor" nodded to a chat style with a cultural bent: 1984's "History of Jamaica" recounted the island's past from Columbus to independence, and 1985's "Wheely Wheely" became a dancehall standard. He was shot and killed in Massachusetts in 1994.
