Daniel Santos

Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, in 1916, Daniel Santos joined songwriter Pedro Flores's Cuarteto Flores in New York in the late 1930s and later spent years as a featured vocalist with Cuba's Sonora Matancera. His dramatic, world-weary bolero and guaracha style and restless life on the road across Latin America made him one of the most influential Puerto Rican vocalists of the mid-20th century.
