Bikini Kill

Bikini Kill, fronted by Kathleen Hanna, became the flagship band of the early-1990s riot grrrl movement, fusing raw, confrontational punk with explicitly feminist lyrics and zine-culture politics. 'Rebel Girl' turned girl-centered solidarity into a defiant punk anthem, and the band's DIY, self-published ethos extended into a broader feminist punk network. Their brash, unapologetic performance style directly shaped later generations of women in punk and electronic music alike.
