Bhadrachala Ramadasu
Kancharla Gopanna, known as Bhadrachala Ramadasu, was a 17th-century Telugu poet-composer and devotee of Rama whose kirtanas - reportedly composed in part during a long imprisonment tied to his diverting temple funds to build the Bhadrachalam Rama temple - combine plain-spoken devotional longing with an intimate, sometimes reproachful ('ninda stuti') address to his god. His songs remain a staple of Telugu devotional and Carnatic vocal repertoire.
