A Guy Called Gerald
Gerald Rydel Simpson, recording as A Guy Called Gerald, is a Manchester-born producer and an early member of 808 State whose 1988 solo single 'Voodoo Ray' became a defining anthem of the UK acid house scene and the Haçienda club. He went on to become a pioneering figure in early jungle and drum and bass through the 1990s, part of the lineage of British bass and dance music later cited by artists including Burial.
